  4. I’ll be the first to admit my beauty regime is basic and I really don’t spend much (any!) time pampering myself – which really is wrong ladies – we should take five sometimes, it’s good for us and if we are relaxed and happy we are much more able to deal with everything life throws at us.

So when some gorgeous natural organic skincare products arrived at Grand Baby HQ from St. Grape I decided that yes, I would be enjoying a little “me” time! So after a day of refereeing my boys (yep I’m not a mummy I am a referee) a long walk, all the other household stuff and a few hours work too, it was great to unwrap a whole box of goodies just for me - bliss.

Only like most mums I’ve become innately selfless and I decided that as St. Grape’s natural mineral and oil products were for men too I’d share with hubby, well a bit anyway – so Dad’s, Grandad’s don’t be shy pampering is for boys too have some “you” time on us.

I was most excited about the 250 Million Year Old Himalayan Pink Salt which looked and sounded fantastic, with traces of 84 minerals and enriched with Natural Essential Oils which was going to give “an immediate reviving feeling, ultimately a peaceful sleep…” really, it’s going to be getting up and down half the night with my boys? Wow! So, added to a hot bath, as per the leaflet of instructions and soaked for 15-20 minutes! It can also be used for foot soaking, scenting and bath massage.

The smell was a real breathe in scent – you just felt you had to, the Eucalyptus and Spearmint were strong but not too strong, the Spearmint was quite yummy and the other scents balanced so it was more relaxing spa overall. It really did exfoliate relax and relieve and the whole house smelt gorgeous – and surprisingly everyone did sleep well that night J. I have a real pet hate for air fresheners and candles aren’t practical all the time so I’m also looking forward to using the bag to scent one or two areas of the house too.

Next, Aqua Bliss Bath Scrub, for face and body and suitable for all skin types, I haven’t yet tried on my face but for an all over scrub it’s super soft and gentle, no abrasion at all like many exfoliating products and as a refreshing and healing scrub – I like healing, after my busy days a healing product is welcome I feel like I need it sometimes and it’s great in the shower too. The Jasmine, Lavender and other oils are stronger in both the body and foot scrub, without the spearmint this time, but still a unisex scent and one for all generations. My skin was left lovely and soft too.

Now as I said I first tried all these lovely products after a very busy day and a very long walk so my feet said yes – Ancient Foot Scrub – please, and again the grains were exfoliating and softening but not abrasive or too hard and my feet did feel great, so I’m chuffed it’s a huge tub as I’ve high hopes for its callous smoothing properties.

The St. Grape Invisible Skin Massage Oil, which comes in a glass bottle with stopper, is another luxury product you wouldn’t hesitate to give as a gift. It can be used on face and body and relaxes and relieves stress and muscle pain. Containing oils and Eucalyptus it was back to the minty, fresh but very beautifying smell a little different but of a similar ilk to the Himalayan Salt. Personally I love the smell of both this Soaking Salt and Massage Oil and find they both have very original and enjoyable smells, not heavy on perfume so good for all the family, a little minty and refreshing but relaxing too. I wouldn’t hesitate now to choose both for gifts for busy mums and grans, knowing they would relish them as much as me.

Thank you St Grape for a bit of “me” time, we love natural and organic products here at Grand Baby! Mums, Grans, take five for yourselves, St. Grape can be found at but if you aren’t shopping for something new head upstairs and see what’s hiding in your bathroom cupboard but don’t forget St. Grape when you write your list for Santa! Follow them on Twitter for regular reminders and offers.

  5. We are feeling a little sentimental here at Grand Baby this week, for Grand Baby we are nearly four, and still love bringing you a touch of the original and unique, a little vintage, and some great traditional baby gifts and children's gifts. For me personally as founder of Grand Baby it's a time of change as my eldest and first born starts school next week, and I'm certainly not the only mum, or parent, or mumpreneur that has some trepidation for the event. However busy we are, no matter how many hats we wear and balls we juggle as parents, and business people or employees, it's time for a little reflection as we approach a massive "first" event, first day at school. We've been through first steps, first smile, first Christmas, first Birthday and so many more momentus occasions but next week is the biggie - well so far any way!

For me time goes too quick, and although I try and cherish every moment for and with my boys, time goes too fast, and all the pressures of life often interfere, but I suppose that is what life with children is about, and it's the same for all parents, the important thing is to enjoy every and cherish every minute, the fun times, the learning curve's and the big firsts (as well as the battles, the tears and the tantrums!), and yes I'll be talking the "first day at school" pictures next week, and shedding some tears as I do - anyone else?
